Landstar System, Inc. presented the 2018 Landstar Safety Officer of the Year Award to independent Landstar Agent Ike Tate during Landstar’s Annual Agent Convention held in Marco Island, Fla.

The Landstar Star of Quality is awarded to Landstar Agents, business capacity owners (BCOs) and operators who regularly go above and beyond the call of duty.

A former professional truck driver and logistics coordinator, Gherzu opened her Land O’Lakes, Florida-based independent Landstar agency with more than 20 years of industry experience and a book full of potential customers.

Each month, deserving business capacity owners (BCOs), operators and Agents earn Landstar’s Star of Quality Award. The award, for members of the Landstar family who ago above and beyond the call of duty, recognizes their extra efforts.

As Landstar’s “ambassadors of safety,” Landstar Safety Officers (LSOs) are the representatives from each independent agency at the forefront of Landstar’s Mutual Understanding of Safety Together or M.U.S.T. program.

The outstanding efforts by these professional men and women throughout October and November earned them a Star of Quality Award.

As the first generation of independent Landstar entrepreneurs tells it, what hasn’t wavered is Landstar’s commitment to its independent business owners.

In their 30s, this group of millennial business owners are eager for the future, to grow their businesses and the freedom to succeed with Landstar.

After collaborating with numerous agencies, Landstar found a need for a tool that would not only help agencies develop fast, accurate quotes for their customers, but would find available capacity quickly too.
