As Landstar’s “ambassadors of safety,” Landstar Safety Officers (LSOs) are the representatives from each independent agency at the forefront of Landstar’s customer safety initiatives. The LSO, who embraces all aspects of Landstar’s safety-first culture, is the customer’s point of contact at the independent Landstar agency for safety-related questions.

Congratulations to the following Landstar Safety Officers recently recognized as LSOs of the Month.

November 2020 LSO of the Month: Kyle Horne

Congratulations to Landstar Safety Officer Kyle Horne of Transtar Logistics of TX in Colleyville, Texas. He was named the November 2020 LSO of the Month. Horne and the independent agency staff support Landstar’s safety culture through their consistent support of Landstar BCOs. The agency practices safe and accurate dispatch to ensure critical and specific load details are communicated to owner-operators before they move freight. In addition, Transtar Logistics of TX uses Landstar technologies with every load, to support BCOs and customers, and allow drivers to operate safely and efficiently.

December 2020 LSO of the Month: Daniel Sloan 

Landstar Safety Officer Daniel Sloan was named the December 2020 LSO of the Month. Sloan and the staff at SF Logistics Inc., in Lebanon, Tennessee had no cargo claims or preventable accidents in 2020 and booked more than 1.8 million BCO miles.  Sloan and his team put safety first by being in constant communication with the BCOs who move their customers’ high-risk, high-value loads. Sloan believes communication is key to planning logistics and safely delivering freight. Congratulations to Daniel and the team at SF Logistics Inc. 

January 2021 LSO of the Month: Chris Cheatham

Chris Cheatham, the Landstar Safety Officer for his independent agency, Cheatham was selected as the January 2021 LSO of the Month. Cheatham and his team in Henderson, North Carolina, booked more than 3.7 million miles with no DOT preventable accidents in the last year. The agency supports Landstar’s safety culture by regularly dialing into the Safety Thursday Conference Call – and participating in Landstar’s virtual safety meetings. Kudos to the entire team at Cheatham Transport for participating in an exclusive safety call and three regional safety meetings held via Zoom video conferencing with Landstar.
