Landstar has a special educational role at this year’s joint National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) – U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) Fall Meeting & Exposition. Together, government and industry representatives will focus on challenges, technologies and industry practices across every sector of the defense transportation industry.

John Collins, Landstar Transportation Logistics executive vice president of specialized freight services, is among those invited to discuss the industry’s available capacity and emergency response capabilities in a meeting with the Commander of United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), Gen. Darren W. McDew.

USTRANSCOM is one of nine Unified Commands under the Department of Defense (DOD) and is responsible for providing the DOD with global air, land and sea transportation, and delivering combat power to meet national objectives on behalf of the president and secretary of defense.

Collins, who serves on the NDTA board of directors as chairman of the surface committee, will join representatives from the ocean and air committees in the invitation-only meeting.

“It is an honor to be part of this exclusive meeting with General McDew,” said Collins. “And to be part of the very important discussion about the transportation industry’s ability to aid the Department of Defense.”

Over the last five years, the NDTA Expo has served as a venue for members of the and the logistics communities to network with top level government and industry decision makers about a myriad of subjects related to defense transportation.

More than 1,300 representatives from military, government and transportation logistics are expected to attend the 2017 NDTA Expo “Force Projection – Assuring Access: Cyber & Physical.” Landstar, a platinum level sponsor, will be hosting booth number 241 at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel in Missouri October 10 -13.
