Landstar System, Inc. presented the 2018 Landstar Safety Officer of the Year Award to independent Landstar Agent Ike Tate during Landstar’s Annual Agent Convention held in Marco Island, Fla.

A former professional truck driver and logistics coordinator, Gherzu opened her Land O’Lakes, Florida-based independent Landstar agency with more than 20 years of industry experience and a book full of potential customers.

As Landstar’s “ambassadors of safety,” Landstar Safety Officers (LSOs) are the representatives from each independent agency at the forefront of Landstar’s Mutual Understanding of Safety Together or M.U.S.T. program.

As Landstar’s highest honor for business capacity owners (BCOs), the company’s term for independent owner-operators with exclusive lease agreements, Roadstar award winners are considered the most elite professional drivers.

Landstar System, Inc. honored seven female owner-operators among Landstar’s best and safest during the 7th Annual Landstar BCO All-Star Celebration held earlier this month.

Each of the inductees has driven more than one million consecutive miles without a preventable accident, a distance that takes a truck operator approximately 10 years to travel.

Although Mariana Gherzu is a “rookie” to the Landstar agent network, she’s not new to the transportation industry.

Congratulations to all the award winners at the 2018 Landstar Agent Convention held in April at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.

Landstar awarded employees with the Jeffrey C. Crowe-Robert E. Zonneville Lifetime Achievement Award and the Landstar Outstanding Management Achievement Award.
